Asia protein transition platform

The members of the Asia Protein Transition Platform represent over US $ 3 trillion.

The Platform defines a 2030 Protein Transition Vision in Asia as:

Asian food companies contribute to regional and global protein security by growing the share of sustainable proteins and limiting the share of animal proteins from industrial farming and fisheries.

Sustainable proteins (including ‘alternative’ proteins, traditional plant-based and regenerative, higher welfare proteins) and responsible animal proteins are verified to meet:

Full traceability and transparency in the value chain, and appropriate product labelling for consumers.

Fair labour, recruitment, working conditions, payment, and other support, enabling a just transition.

No prophylactic antibiotic use, minimal incidence of antimicrobial resistance, and other related worker and public health impacts.

Animal welfare that meets Responsible Minimum Standards from the FARMS Initiative, that ensures elimination of cages and overcrowded, barren systems

GHG emissions reduction in line with the Paris Agreement 1.5°C target.

Zero deforestation and other adverse land use changes across all relevant commodities, including animal feed raw materials.

Responsible use of natural capital (including fish stocks, no use of fishmeal fish oil) that halts biodiversity loss and allows for natural ecosystem regeneration.

Minimal chemical use during the production of feed and other raw materials. Circular or regenerative systems with responsible processing of all wastes, soil regeneration and avoidance of water-stressed locations and hazardous chemicals.

We invite Asian food companies and related stakeholders to explore the expected disclosures along with recommended 2030 and interim goals, developed with our collaborating investors.

We invite you to explore the investor expected disclosures guide and recommended goals, outlining a pathway towards more responsible animal protein and increasing sustainable proteins. The self-assessment questionnaire is a tool for your use to assist companies with a pathway for more just, humane and climate-safe protein supply or sourcing.
