This report assesses nine leading banks in Japan, Singapore, and South Korea on their approaches to the opportunities and challenges presented by the energy transition for the financial sector. As key financial institutions in Asia from the region’s most advanced economies, these banks have a pivotal role in financing the region’s decarbonisation efforts and steering carbon-intensive industries away from fossil fuels. The report provides policy, governance, and risk management analyses and recommendations to ensure these banks can accelerate the energy transition and align their financing with the 1.5°C climate goal.
