Asia Research and Engagement (ARE) brings the voice of investors to Asia’s sustainable development challenges. We run collaborative engagement programmes across Asia which assemble coalitions of investors to address strategic sustainability issues and use dialogue as the tool to create change with senior business decision makers. Our main areas of expertise are energy transition and its financing and sustainable protein.

Within energy transition we currently target banks、power/utilities, steel, cement and automobile companies and extend to other sectors that are major users or producers of energy.

This exciting role will develop a new Supply chain / Biodiversity program in ARE China to advance dialogue in supply chain and ethical biodiversity standards. The Manager will lead engagement and build relationships with a portfolio of international, Chinese investors as well as key Chinese companies on climate and nature issues.

The Manager will support our China Country Director to understand the landscape of relevant hard commodity in the supply chain in different markets, and enhance responsible biodiversity standards, conversation planning policies and disclosures in key companies. Help leverage change to restore and regenerate ecosystems in China. The role will collaborate closely with our Directors and Analysts in our Head Office in Singapore.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role will initiate or support strategic engagement of companies, with the following range of responsibilities:

  • Set up and develop the supply chain / biodiversity programme strategy in China
  • Establish a portfolio of relationships with Chinese target companies
  • Conduct research and development on supply chain / biodiversity standards and activities
  • Facilitate and lead meetings with companies and investors to discuss supply chain /biodiversity related standards, policies, targets and disclosures
  • Engage with relevant civil society organisations to understand their concerns
  • Collaborate with team members in China and Singapore on research publications and write communications, reports, presentations and articles
  • Maintain the quality and accuracy of information and be the knowledge manager for this programme

 

Required qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of corporate engagement experience in biodiversity, energy, supply chain, or relevant sectors in China or Southeast Asia area
  • Strong network in critical mineral, energy transition, commodities trading, automotive/batteries or relevant sectors in China
  • A good understanding of environmental topics related to business risks, opportunities, ethical and biodiversity issues
  • Relevant qualifications and background in biodiversity, environmental management, development policies, business or finance
  • Some business travel within China and overseas will be required

工作职责

  • 在中国制定并推进供应链/生物多样性项目战略及规划
  • 与相关中国目标公司建立一系列联系
  • 开展与供应链及生物多样性标准和活动相关的研究
  • 协调并主导与目标公司和投资者的会议,以讨论与供应链/生物多样性相关的标准、政策、目标和披露
  • 与相关机构和组织建立联系,了解行业关注的问题
  • 与中国和新加坡的团队成员合作撰写出版物和传播材料,包括研究报告、演示文稿、专业文章等
  • 确保信息的质量和准确性,成为该项目的知识与信息管理者

 

职位要求

  • 在中国或东南亚地区的生物多样性、能源、供应链或相关行业拥有至少5年以上企业参与相关工作经验
  • 在中国关键矿产、能源转型、大宗商品交易、汽车/电池或相关行业拥有强大的网络
  • 对影响商业风险和机遇相关的环境议题,以及与环境议题相关的道德和生物多样性问题有很好的理解
  • 有生物多样性、环境管理、发展政策、商业或金融方面的相关专业背景
  • 需要能在中国境内和海外完成必要的一些商务旅行
