Job Description – Fundraising Manager
Sustainability, Climate and Transition research funding

Existing relevant fundraising networks essential, Asian market knowledge desirable
Salary range up to SGD$10k per month / USD$7.5k, negotiable and depending on experience
 

Asia Research and Engagement (ARE) brings the voice of investors to Asia’s sustainable development challenges. We run collaborative engagement programs across Asia, assembling coalitions of investors to address strategic sustainability issues and using dialogue and shareholder escalation tools to shift the mindsets of senior decision-makers across finance and industry.

ARE has a team of highly motivated professionals with a range of backgrounds and disciplines who help to drive change. Our activities include running investor-backed engagement programmes and producing high-grade research on sustainability themes and management by Asian listed companies.

Our main areas of expertise are energy transition and its financing, protein transition, and sustainable real estate. We target a range of sector related Asian companies and banks.

ARE is looking for someone to design, drive, and deliver a fundraising strategy highlighting ARE’s theory of change and 10-year track record of results to support organisational growth and geographic expansion.

The Fundraising Manager will work with the Managing Director, Program Directors, and Communication team members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver a fundraising strategy to grow and diversify revenue streams from philanthropic foundations, grants, high net worth individuals and our collaborating investors.
• Collaborate with the Managing Director and Program Directors to align fundraising strategies with overall organisational goals.
• Develop and oversee fundraising campaigns to engage donors and accomplish a fundraising growth target of US$2million annually.
• Ensure sustainability of relationships and inspirational stewardship with our network of existing investors and funders.
• Build and maintain a CRM system for tracking fundraising activities.
• Build and foster meaningful relationships with current and prospective funders, including targeted high net worth individuals, investors, family offices and foundations in and beyond Asia.
• Manage key streams of revenue for ARE’s Programs working with departmental budgets to achieve or exceed fundraising and growth targets, including forecasting, planning and pro-actively reporting on progress of achievements to stakeholders.
• Plan a programme of fundraising and business development events in collaboration with the Communications Manager and Program teams.
• Project manage the submission of fundraising grant pitches and proposals including leading writing of applications to foundations and other institutional funders, in collaboration with the Program Directors.

Requirements and competencies:

• Proven experience and revenue in fundraising with an existing established network, Asian market knowledge desirable
• Experience of closing solicitations, including producing and delivering pitches, applying for grants and writing persuasive funding applications
• A broad understanding of sustainability and climate contexts, or an ability to rapidly grasp Energy Transition, Protein Transition, and other sustainability and environmental topics
• Bachelor’s degree and Master’s level education preferred
• Excellent communication, writing, organisational skills, and attention to detail
• A genuine interest in Asia and sustainability
• Location flexible with ability to work partly in Asian time zone preferred
