Asia Research and Engagement (ARE) brings the voice of investors to Asia’s sustainable development challenges. We run collaborative engagement programs across Asia, assembling coalitions of investors to address strategic sustainability issues and using dialogue and shareholder escalation tools to shift the mindsets of senior decision-makers across finance and industry.

ARE has a team of highly motivated professionals with a range of backgrounds and disciplines who help to drive change. Our activities include running investor-backed engagement programmes and producing high-grade research on sustainability themes and management by Asian listed companies.

Our main areas of expertise are energy transition and its financing, protein transition, and sustainable real estate. We target a range of sector related Asian companies and banks.

ARE is looking for someone to focus on designing, driving and delivering an effective fundraising strategy and activities. The role holder will work with the Managing Director, Program Directors and Communication team members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Design and deliver a fundraising strategy to grow and diversify revenue streams from philanthropic foundations, grants, high net worth individuals and our collaborating investors.
• Collaborate with the Managing Director and Program Directors to drive and support ongoing fundraising activities
• Ensure sustainability of relationships and inspirational stewardship with our network of existing investors and funders.
• Manage key streams of revenue for ARE’s Programs working with departmental budgets to achieve or exceed fundraising and growth targets, including forecasting, planning and pro-actively reporting on progress of achievements to stakeholders
• Plan a programme of fundraising and business development events in collaboration with the Communications Manager and Program teams
• Project manage the submission of fundraising grant pitches and proposals including leading writing of applications to foundations and other institutional funders, in collaboration with the Program Directors.
• Following up with targeted high net worth individuals, investors, family offices and foundations in and beyond Asia.

Requirements and competencies:

• Proven experience and revenue in fundraising with an existing established network
• Experience of producing and delivering pitches, applying for grants and ability to write persuasive funding applications
• A broad understanding of sustainability and climate contexts, or an ability to rapidly grasp Energy Transition, Protein Transition and other sustainability and environmental topics
• Bachelor’s degree and Master’s level education preferred
• Excellent communication, writing, organisational skills and attention to detail
• A genuine interest in Asia and sustainability, location flexible but Asia networks and working time zone essential
