Benjamin is a leading expert in sustainable investment and active ownership. A former fund manager, he had his first role in sustainable investment in 2005. He founded ARE in 2013 to address the gap in dialogue between investors and companies on sustainable development challenges and to provide high quality, independent research. He is also a Lead Representative for GRESB. He studied mathematics and philosophy at Oxford and took professional examinations in investment management and research in the UK.
With over 25 years’ experience in banking and financial services with institutions like Standard Chartered and ICICI Bank and senior roles at environmental groups such as the Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation and Environmental Defense Fund, Shishir will lead global operations at ARE, strengthening systems and financial planning. He will also drive strategic partnerships to align capital markets with sustainable development, connecting investors, companies, and civil society to catalyse systemic change across Asia.
Helen leads ARE’s Energy Transition work and team in China. She has extensive knowledge and expertise in GHG emission reduction and climate change matters in China. She brings with her more than 20 years of commercial experience working in the energy, industrial and financial sectors. Helen has successfully implemented key projects for a wide network of corporations and government entities.
Kate leads ARE’s Protein Transition work and team across Asia. Kate has extensive expertise in food systems, farm animal health, animal welfare, and alternative proteins. Formerly, she was the Head of Research at a global NGO focused on humane farming and sustainable proteins. She is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors training programme and the Australian School of Applied Management. Kate has contributed to global strategies across sustainable animal husbandry and food systems, and led corporate and policy engagement, including for the One Health initiative.
Yvonne leads ARE’s Investor Engagement and Sustainable Real Estate work in Asia. She is the Lead Representative of GRESB (Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark) Asia, encouraging real estate and infrastructure projects in Asia to participate in GRESB assessment and offering real-time actionable insights for institutional investors, banks, and corporates. Yvonne is also part of Nanyang Technology University’s Decarbonisation Forum 2024, focusing on Southeast Asia’s building sector transition pathways.
Yvonne is a seasoned company director with extensive board governance experience. Formerly a director at CapitaLand in Singapore, she now sits on the board of TomoWork, a Sumitomo Life Investment-sponsored charity in Singapore, Richard Hua Education Trust, and Soristic, a social enterprise that administers the Temasek Foundation’s OSCAR Fund and grant-giving in Singapore.
Rituj brings over 11 years of experience as a climate action practitioner and researcher, specialising in finance, food systems, and sustainability. His career highlights include being a founding member of an agri-policy advisory firm, addressing malnutrition in tribal communities, and fostering more cooperation between the G7 and G20. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Delhi University and a postgraduate diploma in Liberal Studies and Leadership from Ashoka University. Rituj was awarded the German Chancellor’s Fellowship in 2020 for his research on impact investing in Germany.
Wai Shin brings over 20 years of expertise in sustainable finance and ESG. He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Physics within Natural Sciences (First Class Honours) from the University of Durham (UK). Formerly Managing Director and Global Head of ESG Research at HSBC, Wai-Shin is a recognised thought leader advising investors, corporates, and regulators on climate finance and transition risk.
At ARE, he will guide the organisation’s research, on a senior advisory basis, to align with global economic, investment, and policy developments — shaping evidence-based narratives that catalyse corporate change and support Asia’s transition to sustainable business models.
Arun spent 25 years in the power and energy sector, developing expertise across management consultancy, equity research, energy transition strategy, corporate leadership, power trading, regulatory engagement, and green energy finance. He has held leadership roles at PTC India, HSBC Securities, KPMG and CRISIL. Arun holds an MBA in Finance, an MA in Economics, an advanced certification in Software Engineering, and is a certified alumnus of MIT Sloan’s Executive Programme in AI and Business Strategy.
Tiffany facilitates investor engagement at ARE, bringing over 15 years of experience in client relationship management. Her background includes diverse roles in both the public sector (with the UK Department for International Trade and Business Finland) and the private sector (within the financial and professional service industry). With a passion for sustainable finance, Tiffany is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections and driving positive change in the investment landscape.
Stella’s diverse professional journey spans critical roles in finance and investment, including ESG research, equity analysis, credit rating, and strategy. Formerly Assistant Vice President of ESG methodology at Moody’s, she adapted global ESG models for the Chinese market. She was also a consultant for the Credit Risk and Ratings Advisory Committee at UNPRI. Stella holds a Bachelor of Economics with first-class honours from the Central University of Finance and Economics and a Master’s in Finance & Investment from the University of Exeter. Her expertise reflects a dedication to advancing ESG practices and sustainable finance, grounded in a deep understanding of global financial markets.
Pongsagorn, also known as ART, leads ARE’s protein transition work in Thailand, engaging listed foodservice companies and financial institutions to advance plant-based targets and reduce reliance on animal protein. He brings over 17 years of cross-sector experience spanning Oxfam, the United Nations, Tetra Tech, and CP Group, a major player in Thailand’s agri-food sector.
Art’s expertise in sustainability strategy and stakeholder engagement underpins his work in corporate engagement, research, and advocacy — all aimed at accelerating Southeast Asia’s shift toward more sustainable and resilient protein systems.
Dave provides support in research and stakeholder engagement for Sustainable Protein. He graduated from Singapore Management University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Business Management. In his senior and final year, Dave pursued his interest in sustainable finance by working as a research assistant in SMU and later joining ARE as an intern prior to graduation.
Jo-anne is an experienced operations management professional with more than 20 years of connecting the dots between various job functions. Prior to joining ARE, she organised and supported regional business start-ups and expansion. She is very passionate about solving daily operational challenges and creating a delightful employee experience.
Yinan leads communications for ARE’s China team, including social media, events, strategic communications, and media relations. She brings extensive experience in both communications and business to her role guiding the development and execution of ARE’s communications strategy and amplifying the organisation’s voice across different stakeholders and platforms. Before joining ARE, Yinan worked with Ernst & Young, CDP, and Lenovo in various communications and corporate strategy roles. She holds a master’s degree from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from Renmin University of China.
Ran specialises in the energy transition of China’s power and automotive sectors, bringing a multidisciplinary perspective to her research. Her work bridges institutional investors and companies on sustainable development and low-carbon transition, advancing the energy transition agenda and fostering a greener future.
Before joining ARE, Ran gained diverse experience in energy transition, government affairs, and macroeconomics at Mercedes-Benz, the Hainan Green Finance Institute, KPMG China, and Reuters. She holds master’s degrees from Durham University (UK) and City University of Hong Kong, making her a key player in her field.
Khinwai provides support in research and stakeholder engagement for Energy Transition. Prior to joining ARE, he has had experience in equity research and ESG integration at a major Singapore headquartered asset manager. Khinwai has a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from the National University of Singapore.
Mira specializes in the Power Utilities sector across East and Southeast Asia. She leads in-depth research and stakeholder engagement efforts to support and accelerate decarbonization trends in the region. Mira has a background in U.S. Equity Research and Strategy, where she conducted market and sector analyses by integrating macroeconomic context with fundamental analysis. She holds an MBA from NYU’s Stern School of Business and is a CFA charterholder.
Emily offers valuable support in research and engagement for Energy Transition initiatives in China. She holds a Master of Finance and Management from The University of Exeter. Prior to joining ARE, Emily served as a senior investment analyst in a private dollar fund, where she honed her skills in primary market investment analysis and communications.
Nina brings more than 15 years of experience in business development, supporting client acquisition and pre-sales across various organisations, and helping expand their footprint in India through strategic relationship-building. At ARE, she supports both corporate and investor engagement. Nina conducts research and works closely with global investors and listed companies across Southeast Asia and India to strengthen ESG strategies and build support for sustainability initiatives, with a focus on the food and energy sectors.
Isabelle supports the Energy Transition team at ARE through research and stakeholder engagement. She earned her Bachelor of Business Management from Singapore Management University. Isabelle sharpened her skills in strategy and sustainability working with companies across the region.
Sheetal supports ARE’s work on protein transition in India through research and stakeholder engagement, and also contributes to energy transition efforts. She holds a Master’s in Environment Management from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University. Prior to joining ARE, Sheetal worked with industry and government stakeholders in India, leading climate and sustainability initiatives, including policy research, capacity building and industry consultations.
Clifford Cheah is the former Chief Strategy Officer for Deutsche Bank in Asia Pacific. In this role he was responsible for overall group strategy in the region, reporting to the bank’s regional CEO and the Global Head of Strategy. Prior to this role, Clifford spent 17 years working in Global Markets and was responsible for the bank’s currency business in the Asia Pacific. He had various senior roles including being a member of the Corporate & Investment Bank APAC executive committee and the Head of Diversity for Global Markets.
Clifford worked in DB’s London and Tokyo offices before joining the foreign exchange business in Singapore. He was instrumental in helping develop the nascent Asian currency option trading and structuring business in the region. Prior to joining Deutsche Bank, Clifford practiced as a consulting engineer in London.
Clifford holds both a Bachelor of Engineering degree and an MBA from Imperial College London.
Linus Koh is Chairman of Nutmeg Capital, a family office with venture capital and private equity interests in finance, technology, and healthcare. He has advised and participated on the boards of several portfolio entities.
Linus’ experience covers executive leadership roles in international capital markets and investment banking. He served as COO for Deutsche Bank’s Asia Pacific businesses after leading trading and sales teams at UBS and Citigroup. He has been deeply involved in restructuring Singapore’s regulated securities and derivatives markets. At SGX, he led the development and management of listed exchange products and services, before being appointed CFO and Head of Strategy.
Linus holds an S.M. in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.A. in Economics from the University of Sheffield. He has also completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School and the Oxford Fintech Program at the Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Ruby Shang is the former Asia Director and Senior Advisor at the Clinton Foundation and Asia Director for the Clinton Climate Initiative (CCI) Asia. In her role at CCI Asia she implemented Sustainable Energy Efficiency Programs for Building Retrofits and Solid Waste with eleven city governments. She also deployed Forestry programmes with the national Forestry Ministries in Cambodia and Indonesia.
Ruby serves on several boards, including education technology nonprofit Rumie.org, the Asian Cultural Council, and The Asia Foundation. She is the former Board Chair of the Asia Pacific Leaders’ Malaria Alliance. She was a member of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s Finance Committee for her 2016 Presidential campaign and a member of Brown University President’s Leadership Council for 14 years.
Bringing a global perspective, she was born in Tokyo, attended the American School in Japan, and graduated from Brown University. She currently splits time between Singapore, the United States, and Switzerland.
