Asia Research and Engagement (ARE) brings the voice of investors to Asia’s sustainable development challenges. We run collaborative engagement programs across Asia which assemble coalitions of investors to address strategic sustainability issues and use dialogue as the tool to create change with senior business decision makers.
Our main areas of expertise are energy transition and its financing, sustainable protein and sustainable real estate. Within energy transition we currently target banks and power companies and will soon extend to other sectors with high carbon intensity, steel and cement.
ARE has a team of highly motivated professionals across a range of backgrounds and disciplines who help to drive change and harness the voice of investors to engage companies on sustainability matters. Our expertise includes running investor backed engagement programmes and producing high grade research on sustainability themes and management by Asian listed companies.
This role will support AREs research and engagement work on the Energy transition platform by producing research on climate and transition topics to help develop a deeper understanding of sustainability issues. The role holder will collaborate with the Director of Energy Transition to maintain influential relationships with companies and strengthen ARE’s public voice.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide research and data on energy transition and financing topics and connect the key insights in reports, company benchmarking and opinion pieces
Lead and collaborate with team members on research production, report writing and writing communications (presentations, articles, opinion pieces etc.).
Directing and reviewing Analysts work as well as on the job training and development for team members
Responsible for maintaining up to date research on company and bank benchmarking, corporate targets and updating changes across finance and energy related sectors
Ensure quality assurance and accuracy of information and be a knowledge manager in specific markets
Support engagement with companies and investors on key insights and conclusions by attending meetings, presenting and sharing information
Contribute to the dialogue with companies and maintain relationships
Support the Director to execute on the teams engagement objectives, deliverables and milestones
Requirements and competencies:
Minimum 5 years working experience in investment, finance, sustainability or other relevant sector with the appropriate skill set
Relevant academic background such as, but not limited to economics, finance, business or environmental management
Experience in research, analysis and benchmarking, preferably in energy or sustainability
Ideally experience of working with investment or credit teams on environmental topics and sector specific research
